Maryland population 6 million.
Have you ever seen a car after it's been hit by a truck, or even a car doing 60+? "Multiple safety features" won't save you.

It’s the official advice on the government websites of three countries, not “random Internet searches”.
If you’re in the car you can get hit. If you’re behind the safety barrier you can’t. It’s that simple.

No, you have random internet searches supporting you position. I have the leader of the emergency roadside service industry supporting my position with decades of research and experience. There's no problem other than you not accepting these are best practices.

Right. I'm they have the resources to match any government.
I've just checked and in Germany it says "you must leave the vehicle in ANY weather" (their capitals).
France is the same.
When three national governments and common sense disagree with you, it might be time to swallow your corporate pride, there's a problem and raise the issue.

Now you're grasping at straws. AAA has an entire separate entity dedicated only to research and developement of safety parameters with regards to emergency roadside service. Everything I've stated in this thread has been thoroughly researched and implemented as best practices.

You might know the procedures, but that doesn’t tell you what if any research was behind them. The advice on the AAA website isn’t even consistent, as you can’t stay in the car and yet put out flares and triangles.

You are arguing with a person that has actually roadside assistance training from AAA. I think I know more about the company and their procedures than you, so give it a break.

You are assuming you exit through the drivers door. That’s why the advice is to use the passenger door.
The AAA advises placing flares and warning triangles, which require leaving the vehicle. Getting back in makes no sense.
The emergency services should reach you in under an hour, so unless the weather is extreme, you should survive.
The AA has been around even longer, but much has changed in the last 50 years so it doesn’t matter.
If a vehicle hits your car at 70+ you are dead. That is why we advise leaving the car.

Any time you egress the vehicle on the highway your risk of being killed increases dramatically, therefore to reduce such risk it is advised to stay in the vehicle with your seatbelt on until emergency services arrive. You also did not take into account environmental conditions. In the United States you can have temperature of 110 degrees in the summer to -40 degrees in the winter depending on location. How do you expect people, especially the elderly or small children, to stay in conditions that can cause live threatening heat stroke or hypothermia?

AAA takes over 32 million services calls every year and on each call involving a roadside emergency we advise them to remain in the vehicle with their seatbelt on until emergency services arrive. An organization that's been around for over 115 years didn't stay in business by giving out false information.

As I said the research is there for you to read. I’d trust the advice from the country with the much lower death rate. How can it be safer to stay in the car?
