I’m aware, what I mean is that there are some other systems, notably HIMA’s AVP that are at the de facto L4 level, even if they don’t claim that. BYD is just more bold to actually claim it.

That is an older generation system. The new system is a step up, and the new OTA update that includes Level 4 autonomy for parking is a significant update to the system.

L4 means SAE Level 4 autonomy. That means it can operate autonomously without the driver present or controlling it remotely, under limited circumstances. No supervision. L5 is the only level above it, autonomous under all circumstances.

This is very impressive actually, I didn't know denza could do it so well

I don't see this as technology leading, I think tech wise it is BYD now on par with HIMA, X-Peng self parking. The difference is in the liability they are willing to accept. BYD is a commercial behemoth, so it can afford to put its weight behind this.

the human/xpeng self park is already at "L4" level if all that means is it does not expect intervention, in my opinion.

That Avatr system (on an Avatr 12) was found to be inferior in self parking compared to the older BYD system on a Denza N7 that pre-dates the new, more advanced God's Eye systems.

The new system, especially with the OTA update, is a significant upgrade over that system. LiDAR is important for Level 3+ high-speed operation. But it is not as important for low-speed parking maneuvers (where a proliferation of redundant ultrasonic, radar and visual sensors come into play).

Before it was banned in April post SU7 NOA crash, Huawei Qiankun ADS 3.0+ vehicles had driverless valet/summoning that could operate even in large parking garages, and as others said it at least had some kind of insurance to back it up; I saw a demonstration of it on a fairly old Avatr 11. The Huawei system with 3 LiDARs is definitely a more high end setup than BYD God's Eye B, and presumably BYD will have the appropriate government approval when the OTA launches.

It’s just marketing calling it L4. Has it been government certified? No.

Lets wait and see. Byd makes too aggressive marketing because is not reaching their sales goal. Their computing power is still low

But nobody else has SAE Level 4 parking.
